Young Warriors (Ages 9+)
Developing Strength, Skill, and Discipline Through Kickboxing

Our Young Warriors program at Doggpound MMA is designed for kids ages 9 and up who are ready to take their martial arts training to the next level.

Through a structured and progressive kickboxing curriculum, students learn to channel their energy, sharpen their technique, and build the confidence that comes from hard work and consistency.

We train in Kick Light, Low Kick, and K1 rulesets — giving students a complete foundation in striking, movement, and strategy.
Each class focuses on discipline, control, and respect, teaching young athletes how to compete safely and confidently while maintaining a strong sense of sportsmanship.

The Doggpound Difference

Our Young Warriors learn that true strength comes from control, humility, and perseverance.
Whether your child dreams of competing or simply wants to build confidence, our program provides the structure, mentorship, and motivation to help them thrive — on and off the mats.

FAQ

Have more questions? We’ve got answers.

What age can my child start kickboxing?
What will my child learn in kickboxing?

Students develop coordination, strength, confidence, focus, and self-defense skills while learning proper striking techniques, including Kicklight, Low Kick, and K1 rulesets. They also learn how to protect themselves safely in the ring and in everyday situations.

When does sparring start?

Sparring is introduced early but begins with no or very light contact, using drills to reinforce skills learned during the week. Students gradually progress as their technique, confidence, and control improve.

Do you have advanced sparring or competitions?

Yes! Students can attend Sunday sparring classes, which include one hour of sparring drills followed by 30 minutes of strength and conditioning in our Kennel area (indoor running shoes required). We offer levels identified by coloured t-shirts instead of belts. Students may compete in light-contact to full-contact competitions once they are ready and willing.

What gear is required for kickboxing classes?

For the trial, we provide loaner gloves. Once enrolled, students will need gloves, wraps, shin guards, a jock, a mouthguard, a Doggpound t-shirt and Doggpound shorts (provided or purchased at the gym).

Can parents watch the class?

Yes! Parents are welcome to observe from the viewing area, ensuring children train safely while gaining confidence.
